I finally saw Purple Rain. Some notes:

It doesn’t rain in themovie.
Prince is the bad guy in this movie, right? He’s constantly treating his band and Apollonia like garbage. Morris Day is actually kind of the hero of the movie.
Apparently nobody pulled Prince aside and said, “Hey, buddy. You’re great. But maybe acting isn’t for you.” He made three more movies during the 80s.
Why don’t they shoot more stuff in Minneapolis? (They probably shoot beer commercials there.)
My Intro to Philosophy instructor in community college was a brilliant, hyper-curmudgeony old bastard. One day he stopped lecturing and said, “You guys ever listen to The Time?” Somebody said, “What? Like Morris Day and The Time?” “Yeah. Morris Day and The Time. Now that’s a show.”
Purple Rain was made in the time before you had to plug in your electric guitar for it to work.
Awful movie.

Gentlemen, the meteor is the size of Texas. It’s headed straight toward Alaska.

Hold on, I’m getting an update. It’s the size of Alaska and headed toward Texas!

We’ve gathered a group of elite engineers, scientists, and astrophysicists to come up with options. Unfortunately we’ve only come up with two:

Send a rag-tag team of specialized soldiers into orbit to take out the meteor head on, or
we look at pictures of Rosario Dawson and wait it out.

Now, gentlemen, I’m not happy with these limited options either. But at this point we should be happy that there are any options at all.

Our best minds say that the soldiers have a 40% chance of stopping this monstrosity from wiping out our civilization. They’re also saying that the pictures of Rosario Dawson have a 100% chance of being entrancing.

Granted, both options are grim. But we’re left with little choice. A decision must be made, gentlemen. And it must be made soon. Or we face total extinction. Permanently.

I understand that several of my colleagues have voiced concerns regarding our second contingency; what we’ve named the Dawson Plan. But to them I ask, “Have you seen Rosario Dawson?” Jesus Christ. I don’t want to sound creepy, but her skin is perfect. Why aren’t our top scientists studying that? Jesus.

I was skeptical of the Dawson Plan at first, too. But a Google Image search quickly corrected that. We can study and understand astrophysics all we want, gentlemen, but we may never figure out perfect facial symmetry!

You’ve each been handed two folders. One is filled with diagrams of asteroid trajectories, shuttle schematics, and dossiers on each of our specialized soldiers. The other is filled with glossy 8x10s of Rosario Dawson. For the sake of time I recommend reading the boring one first.

The world awaits our decision, gentlemen. It’s up to you. I could go either way, so whatever.
